Technical Inspection in Moldova for Ukrainian Cars — Can You Pass the Inspection in Moldova?

New information has emerged regarding the possibility of passing an international technical inspection (TO) for Ukrainian vehicles in Moldova. This development is especially important for drivers planning to enter Romania through border crossings such as Orlovka-Isaccea and Giurgiulești-Galați. (Such inspections are already being asked for at most border crossings into Romania.)

According to updated information on August 31, 2024, Moldovan TO stations are not authorized to conduct technical inspections and issue inspection certificates for foreign vehicles. Such inspections are confiscated at the border, and fines may be imposed.

Important Note: The certificate issued at this center is in Romanian only and likely does not qualify as an international certificate. It is not entered into the technical inspection database. Reports have indicated that this inspection was not accepted at the Cahul-Oancea border. We are following the situation and will provide updated information.

Since August 13, 2024, this service center will issue an inspection certificate valid for 1 year with a QR code. However, this type of inspection is still not entered into the database, and there is a possibility that it may not be accepted at border crossings.

On August 21, 2024, at the Oancea-Cahul border, this inspection was not accepted. Drivers were offered to transport their car to Romania by tow truck for 130 euros. This is not the first such case at this and other checkpoints, where the tow truck “suddenly” appears nearby.

Attention! Since August 27, 2024, the technical inspection for Ukrainian cars at the Telecentru center is no longer available!

The second service center is also located in Chișinău, and the inspection costs 350 Moldovan lei, but the certificate issued is without a QR code. Location on Google Maps.

This center is state-run and issues a certificate with a validity of 1 month.
