As of November 18, 2024, the Odessa Port Captaincy will be closed for document submission. The document issuance service will resume on December 31, 2024.
Where is Odessa Port Captaincy located?
The Captaincy is located at Uspenska Street, 4, in Odessa, where the Diploma and Passport Department of Odessa Seaport is housed. The building, constructed in 1903, is historically significant and was once the residence of an abbot. This structure is now recognized as a monument of architecture and history, though its architectural importance is often overlooked. Despite this, it remains a significant landmark in the city and has preserved its historical appearance.
Captaincy Functions and Role
The Odessa Port Captaincy is a government body responsible for ensuring the safety of navigation in the port’s waters, as well as overseeing the adherence to shipping regulations and standards. Its tasks include ship registration, issuing permits, organizing rescue operations, and enforcing environmental standards. The main functions of the Captaincy are regulated by Ukrainian law, including the Commercial Shipping Code, which establishes the legal framework for port operations and maritime safety.

Current Captain of Odessa Port:
